An article in Elemental quoted Linda Pescatello, a distinguished professor in the Department of Kinesiology. She explained individuals who exercise only on weekends can experience the same health benefits as those with more consistent exercise routines throughout the week. In addition to noting the immediate health benefits of exercise, she said that any physical activity, even brief walks, can accumulate exercise throughout the day.

MobiHealthNews wrote about a presentation Allied Health Sciences Professor Sherry Pagoto¬†gave at this year’s Connected Health conference in Boston on dieting and fitness apps, focusing on the social and skill set barriers to weight loss. She is director of the UConn Center for mHealth and Social Media.

Assistant Extension Educator Dawn Pettinelli described how to create dish gardens, arranging plants in small dishes and pots, as an enjoyable indoor alternative to gardening during the winter in the Reading Eagle. Pettinelli, a faculty member in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture, manages the UConn Home & Garden Education Center and the UConn Soil Nutrient Analysis Laboratory.

The robotic milking system in the Kellogg Dairy Center (KDC) were mentioned in the September 2019 issue of Reader’s Digest. The KDC is part of the Department of Animal Science.

UConn Today released a video featuring Professor of Geology Robert Thorson on Horsebarn Hill. He says UConn is UConn because glacial ice slid by 20,000 years ago and shaped the landscape that today includes the iconic Horsebarn Hill.
