Professor Douglas Casa was quoted in a Wired article about how athletes are changing their training methods due to extreme heat as global temperatures rise. Casa is in the Department of Kinesiology and the chief executive officer of the Korey Stringer Institute.

Bonnie Burr stopped by WILI to talk with morning show radio host Wayne Norman about the dairy industry in Connecticut. She recently accompanied dairy farmers to speak with state legislators about challenges in the industry and ways lawmakers could assist farmers. Burr is the assistant director and department head of UConn Extension.

Tina Detelj of NBC Connecticut covered Governor Ned Lamont’s visit to a Ledyard hemp farm owned by Dylan Williams, a CAHNR alumnus. Williams earned a degree in sustainable plants and soil systems from the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture (PSLA). Joseph Reynolds, a fellow PSLA graduate, works on the farm with Williams. Shuresh Ghimire of UConn Extension is assisting their work. Williams and Reynolds are also conducting research with Professor Gerald Berkowitz of PSLA.

UConn Extension Program Specialist Stacey Stearns recently wrote about sustainable agriculture from her perspective as a tenth generation farmer in an article for AgDaily.
