 Travis Kornegay, a junior majoring in natural resources, is interning at the Nature Conservancy Block Island this summer as an education and stewardship assistant. The Nature Conservancy’s Block Island program maintains over 2,000 acres of habitat, offers hands-on education programs and supports scientific research in the Great Salt Pond. During the summer, he will work closely with Block Island staff and will be responsible for a variety of stewardship activities in addition to public outreach. He will lead nature walks, monitor preserves, maintain walking trails, staff the visitor center and assist in biological monitoring and other scientific activities.
