CAHNR in the news

Students with mobile devicesWNPR broadcast a story about a CAHNR horticulture course that teaches cannabis production. Undergraduate student Madison Blake, Adjunct Professor Matthew DeBacco and Professor Gerald Berkowitz were quoted in the piece, and graduate student Peter Apicella was depicted. All these people are part of the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. See also Hartford Courant.

UConn Today depicted part of a research project taking place on Horsebarn Hill. Engineering students were working on a firefighting drone that doesn’t need a pilot’s guidance. See also CT Post.

American College of Sports Medicine blog posted an article by Department of Kinsiology postdoctoral fellow Amanda Zaleski. She was featured for Heart Month and wrote about exercise and its role in preventing and treating hypertension. There were references to Distinguished Professor Linda Pescatello‘s work, as well. The Daily Campus quoted Associate Professor Cristian Schulthess about the freeze-thaw cycle and its impact on soils and agriculture. Schulthess is on the faculty of plant science and landscape architecture.

The Washington Post mentioned a Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity report about the targeted marketing of fast food to teenagers. Department of Allied Health Sciences Associate Professor Jennifer Harris was an author of the study.
