newspaper readersThe New York Times ran a story about Connecticut’s encroaching bears.The article quoted Associate Professor Tracy Rittenhouse as saying that bears are moving into places where there is a “perfect mixture of forest and human houses.” Rittenhouse is on the faculty of natural resources and the environment.

The Wall Street Journal included an article by Department of Nutritional Sciences Professor Maria Luz Fernandez in which she discusses her research that shows there is no correlation between consuming eggs and increased risk for heart disease. This was part of a column where two scientists squared off.

A Spreaker podcast featured Associate Extension Professor Steven Rackliffe speaking about how to overseed a lawn in the fall. Rackcliffe is part of plant science and landscape architecture.

UConn Magazine reported on 14 entrepreneurs with successful businesses. Among them was CAHNR alumna Ashley Kalinauskas ’12, Founder and CEO, of Torigen Pharmaceuticals in Farmington, Connecticut.

UConn Today printed a positive reaction to the recent restoration of the Wilbur Cross North and South Reading Rooms by animal science student Michaela Mitchell. She said she was a frequent visitor.
