In June, the four students traveled to Nepal for four weeks with GIVE Volunteers, a Seattle-based organization that recruits students from across the United States to travel abroad and volunteer in communities. The UConn students spent their first two weeks in the Gorkha District of Nepal, helping villagers rebuild homes destroyed in the 2105 earthquake. After their volunteer work, the students spent seven days trekking to Everest South Base Camp, which sits at 17,600 feet in elevation.
