Proven Winners selected a plant developed by Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture Professor Mark Brand as its 2019 Landscape Shrub of the Year. The dwarf shrub, Low Scape Mound Aronia, is a native plant and is ideal for low-maintenance and mass planting. Proven Winners says that the plant is adaptable to most soils and offers dark glossy foliage, loads of white flowers in spring, black summer fruit and intense red foliage in autumn.
According to their website, Proven Winners are trialed and tested in six locations and then selected for their all-season color and bountiful blooms, resistance to disease and insects, and tolerance for heat and humidity.
