Students with mobile devicesScience Direct published a paper about the economic implications of a federal labeling law for genetically modified foods. The corresponding author of the article is Assistant Professor John Bovay from agricultural and resource economics.

ABC News quoted Professor Sherry Pagoto about seeing improvements in depression among people who make healthy lifestyle changes. Pagoto is on the faculty of the Department of Allied Health Sciences.

UConn Today featured a photo gallery of  lambs recently born at the animal barns. Students help monitor the pregnancies and keep the newborn lambs warm.

The federal Department of Health and Human Services released the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee Scientific Report, which provides a summary of the disease prevention and health promotion benefits of a more physically active America based on scientific evidence. Distinguished Professor Linda Pescatello is on the faculty of kinesiology and is a member of the committee, which produced the nearly 800-page document. See also UConn Today.

The Conversation published an article by Associate Professor Jennifer Harris. Her observations in the posting are about the changes in Happy Meals and are based on 10 years of studying fast-food kids’ meals marketing and nutrition. UConn Today mentioned that the Litchfield County Extension Center is still in use at the former Torrington UConn regional campus, which stopped offering classes in 2016.  According to the article, the center may remain there until at least early 2026.
