WNPR. 8-11-16. Aired a segment, as part of a talk show called Where We Live, on what Connecticut is doing to combat the Zika virus. The discussion included special guest Paulo H. Verardi. He is an associate professor in pathobiology and veterinary science.

WNPR. 8-11-12. Posted a photo of Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science Professor and Department Head Steven Geary talking to U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal about the Zika virus. In addition, the piece quoted Geary about the need for funding.

UConn Today. 8-12-16. Reported that 23 members of the UConn women’s lacrosse team were named the Big East All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season. Among the members of the team are allied health sciences students Emily Giumetti and Julia Simmons.

USAgNet. 8-15-16. Listed UConn as an example of how past grants were used, in an article announcing new funding from USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).  UConn received a NIFA experiential learning grant to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the field of sustainable forestry.

WNPR. 8-16-16. Quoted Visiting Associate Extension Educator Mary Concklin about Connecticut’s current drought conditions. Concklin, who is on the faculty of plant science and landscape architecture, said that recent storms have not made up the rainfall deficit.
