At the request of the First Selectman and concerned town residents, the members of the landscape architecture program have been developing design strategies for the improvement of the intersection of the two main state highways in the Warrensville section of the town of Ashford. Students in John Alexopoulos’s Junior Design Studio did a four-week project providing design ideas that concentrated on town identity, safety and sustainabilility. Students met with town officials and collected data from a number of sources, including site reconnaissance, public agencies, planning offices and web-based GIS information. The study includes solutions for redeveloping the commercial district of Route 74 and the village district along Route 44. The students presented their work to the town on March 31, 2016. The images below are from the presentation.
